After the Kick-off event
The kick-off event of the IDEALiC project was a success! Over 40 stakeholders and actors from policy departments, civil society, local authorities, public institutions and academia were present, witnessed the interesting speech by Alexander De Croo, Federal Minister of the Digital Agenda, an contribution on the Brain.be program by Frank Monteny, Director General Research at Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO), and received a heads-on about the set-up of the IDEALiC project by the research team.

Prior to the kick-off event, a first Follow-up Committee (FC) was organised. During this meeting, the members of the FC were mutually introduced and a detailed set-up of the IDEALiC project was presented. The FC will meet another 5 times throughout the project process and will evaluate and discuss upon the overall progress of the project. More concretely, the FC meetings are scheduled at the end of one research track and before the start of the next research track:
FC 2 - March 2016 after WP1 before WP2;
FC 3 - March 2017 after WP2 before WP3 & WP4;
FC 4 - March 2018 after WP3 & WP4 before WP5;
FC 5 - March 2019 at the closing event

After the kick-off event a first Dicussion Platform for e-inclusion was organised. During this meeting, the actors from civil society were mutually introduced and a first reflection exercise on the wants & needs of civil society organisations with regards to the set-up of the IDEALiC project was realized. The goal of the discussion platforms is (a) to discuss and evaluate upon the overall progress of the project; and (b) to see where the IDEALiC project can coincide with wants and needs of civil society organisations in the field of e-inclusion.
In accordance with the FC, future discussion platforms will be organised at the end of one research track and before the start of the next research track:
Discussion Platform 2 - March 2016 after WP1 before WP2;
Discussion Platform 3 - March 2017 after WP2 before WP3 & WP4;
Discussion Platform 4 - March 2018 after WP3 & WP4 before WP5;
Discussion Platform 5 - March 2019 at the closing event

The kick-off event, and the IDEALiC project also received quite a lot of attention from the press. Articles were published in Het Nieuwsblad, Stampmedia, Knack, Engineering.net (Dutch); Le Soir, Le Vif, IT Belge Francophone, Daily Science (French) and Flanders Today (English).
